Type of Work Menu Design Client The Captain’s Boil Year 2015 Website www.thecaptainsboil.com The Captain’s Boil is one of the most distinctive and playful restaurant brands we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Specializing in seafood boils, the brand cultivates a dining culture of “eating heartily and drinking heartily,” where guests enjoy delicious seafood in a lively, hands-on atmosphere. Inspired by its name, we crafted the identity of a bold “bearded pirate captain” — a figure more adventurous and story-driven than the traditional “good captain.” This pirate character, along with a hand-drawn visual system and nautical elements, created a deeply immersive and memorable brand experience. The Captain’s Boil is a hands-on seafood dining experience that’s bold, social, and packed with flavour — where every guest eats like a captain. Make seafood dining an immersive adventure through character-driven storytelling and playful nautical themes. “Eat Like a Captain” — by creating a bold bearded pirate character and nautical visual system, the brand turns every meal into a seafood voyage. Ma Cuisine bilingual menu magazine with Peking Duck and Chinese culinary stories

Ma Cuisine – Menu Design Food & Beverage To transform the traditional restaurant menu into a collectible editorial experience that educates, inspires, and elevates the perception of Chinese cuisine. Type of Work Menu Design Client Ma Cuisine Year 2019 Website N/A CGICA partnered with Ma Cuisine to create a groundbreaking menu-magazine hybrid that redefines the restaurant experience through storytelling, cultural education, and visual narrative. More than just a list of dishes, this publication-style menu celebrates the elegance and complexity of Chinese cuisine — blending over 200 handcrafted menu items with in-depth cultural annotations, medicinal herb insights, chef features, and recipe legends. Presented as Issue 01 of an ongoing series, this project offers a memorable, collectible menu format for both casual diners and food culture connoisseurs. Signature dishes like Peking Duck, Herbal Stews, and Dim Sum are not merely featured — they’re narrated. We built full spreads that contextualize flavour with origin stories, cooking techniques, and symbolism, encouraging emotional connection and deeper appreciation. We structured the content flow like a magazine: opening highlights, thematic chapters, annotated imagery, chef’s picks, and educational callouts (“What’s in Your Soup?”, “Behind the Duck”, “Made with Heart”) — making browsing feel like discovery. We adopted a familiar Western editorial format but filled it with Chinese culinary history, ingredients, regional origin stories, and traditional health wisdom — bridging cultural knowledge gaps while retaining authenticity. QJD Peking Duck (Canada) bilingual menu with highlighted duck dishes and dual-language structure

QJD Peking Duck – Menu Design Restaurant To create a culturally intelligent, visually coherent, and strategically structured bilingual menu that drives sales and unifies all QJD Peking Duck (Canada) locations. Type of Work Menu Design Client QJD Peking Duck Year 2024 Website www.pekingduck.ca As the flagship branding effort for Quanjude’s Canadian expansion, CGICA was commissioned to design a standardized bilingual menu for all Quanjude locations across Canada. Featuring over 150 traditional Chinese dishes, the menu needed to embody the brand’s legacy while delivering clarity, accessibility, and sales momentum within a multicultural dining environment. Rather than just listing items, we structured the menu to elevate hero products such as roast duck through typographic hierarchy, branded icons, and ritual storytelling. Key dishes are grouped and guided to naturally drive higher order volume and set meal selection. Through modular layout blocks, icon tags (e.g., “Chef’s Pick”, “Must Try”), and visually tiered meal sets, the design encourages guests to build their dining experience with ease. Strategic CTAs like “Build Your Feast” prompt action rather than passive browsing. Designed for both Chinese and English-speaking guests, the menu balances cultural richness with readability. Clear pinyin, intuitive category grouping, and familiar Western layout logic make traditional Chinese cuisine accessible and inviting.
